The International Academy Of The Visual Arts Honors Philadelphia's gophila.com With A 2008 Silver Davey Award

It’s A Year Of Awards And Accolades For The Region’s Official Visitor Site

The International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA) awarded Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation’s (GPTMC) gophila.com, the official visitor site for the Philadelphia region, a Silver Davey Award in the Travel category. In its fourth year, the Davey Awards honor “the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide.” This year, the IAVA received more than 4,000 entries from companies in the U.S. and around the world, including firms representing Pepsi, Mercedes Benz, Suzuki, Timex, Kodak and many others.

2008 proved successful for gophila.com thanks in part to several notable awards and accolades. In September, Travel Weekly, one of the travel industry’s most influential trade publications, awarded the site a Silver Magellan Award in the Destinations/City category. And in July, IgoUgo travel blog, a partner of Travelocity, called gophila.com “undeniably fresh” and “full of multimedia options.” The post concluded by saying, “besides being up-to-date, informative, and easy to use … it’s just plain fun.” Today, visitors from all 50 states and 207 countries and territories use gophila.com to plan trips, book hotel accommodations and engage with interactive tools, including videos, slideshows, podcasts and maps.

The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) makes Philadelphia and The Countryside® a premier destination through marketing and image building that increases business and promotes the region’s vitality.
