Philadelphia To Host National And International Sporting Events For The First Time

Softball And Soccer And A Rodeo, Oh My!

In spring 2008, Philadelphia is hosting a series of first-time events for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) sports fans. From May 9-11, the Liberty Gay Rodeo Association (LGRA) will stage Philadelphia’s inaugural gay rodeo, the Liberty Stampede, at the 100-year-old Devon Horse Show Fairgrounds in the Philadelphia suburbs. Then, later in the month, the Philadelphia Falcons Soccer Club will join forces with the City of Brotherly Love Softball League to present the Liberty Bell Classic, the city’s first LGBT multi-sporting event. Both events are open to the public.
