Philly’s More Holiday Fun, an award-winning campaign by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) to promote the region’s seasonal experiences, kicks off its second year with even more great ways to celebrate the holidays in the region. The tourism campaign includes a specialized microsite, gophila.com/holidays (details below); a public relations push focused on local, regional and national media; an advertising campaign running online and in print in Philadelphia, New Jersey, Central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley; and a hotel package. The campaign will run through January 10, 2009.

Philadelphia, The City Of Motherly Love, Will Honor Moms On Saturday, May 10, 2008
To mark the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day, started by Philadelphia resident and West Virginia native Anna Jarvis to honor her mother Anna Marie, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) and the Office of the City Representative are organizing the City of Motherly Love" celebration on Saturday, May 10, 2008. The open-to-the-public event will take place at 12:00 noon at the Wanamaker Building, where the first Mother’s Day celebration took place in 1908 thanks to Philadelphia entrepreneur John Wanamaker. (Another Mother’s Day commemoration took place simultaneously in West Virginia.) The building is located at 13th and Market Streets

Philadelphia Asks, “What Would You Do With An Extra Day?”
This February is extra special because it adds another full day to the 2008 calendar. In honor of the occasion, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) is using www.gophila.com, the region’s official visitor site, and insider blog www.uwishunu.com, to ask people what they will do with the extra day on Friday, February 29, 2008.
Polling to find out what people are going to do with their found time will begin on February 22. The results will be announced on February 28. Some of the 10 questions that will be posed are:

The campaign shines a light on Philadelphia’s distinctively independent shops, lighting displays, seasonal events and exhibitions and hotel experiences.
