South Street Highlighted In Philly Tourism Campaign
GPTMC Promotes Local Neighborhoods On uwishunu Blog And In Tourism Advertising
Local favorites on South Street are highlighted in uwishunu™ (as in “you wish you knew”), a tourism campaign created by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), funded by the City of Philadelphia and supported by City Council President Anna Verna, City Councilperson Frank DiCicco and their colleagues to show off the city from the inside out. On the blog uwishunu.com, locals share under-the-radar scoop on cool things to do in their Philly neighborhoods. Favorites featured on the blog then reappear in uwishunu’s advertising.

Mini-magazines inserted in alternative weeklies in New York, Baltimore, Boston, Providence and Washington, DC this summer highlight (among others) the uwishunu.com blog post about South Street’s Sweet Jane vintage shop, Famous 4th Street Delicatessen and ping-pong at Bob and Barbara’s bar. These mini-magazines feature authentic Philly bloggers with their favorite insider revelations, as well as Philly artists’ renditions of blog post subjects from uwishunu.com.

- Andi advises uwishunu readers how to get Cheap Pedicures at the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute, where estheticians-in-training can shine up your toenails at a low cost on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Tom warns, “…sharks and wizards of the Internet take note: I’m looking for you on Tuesdays at Bob and Barb’s, circa 6 p.m...” for a ping-pong competition, in his post, Ping-Pong+Philly Special=Happy Hour.
- In Take the Train to the Gates of Zion, blogger Troy writes about Saturday nights upstairs at the Pearl of Africa and raves about Zion Train, an open-mic event that welcomes “upstart poets, singers, musicians and emcees.”
