Philadelphia Asks, “What Would You Do With An Extra Day?”
February 29 Gives Everyone An Extra Day For Leap Year; gophila.com And uwishunu.com Conduct Public Polls
This February is extra special because it adds another full day to the 2008 calendar. In honor of the occasion, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) is using www.gophila.com, the region’s official visitor site, and insider blog www.uwishunu.com, to ask people what they will do with the extra day on Friday, February 29, 2008.
Polling to find out what people are going to do with their found time will begin on February 22. The results will be announced on February 28. Some of the 10 questions that will be posed are:
-
Will you call out sick?
-
Will you visit a friend or relative?
-
Will you go about your normal routine?
"We wanted to have a little fun with Leap Year, so we came up with this poll in hopes that people might consider treating themselves to a Philadelphia experience—perhaps doing something they always wanted to do," said Meryl Levitz, president and CEO, GPTMC.
Those looking for ideas on how to spend their extra 24-hours can check out the itinerary GPTMC has set up on www.imin.com (I’m in), a travel Web site making it easy for groups of friends to make travel plans together. On the site, visitors will find great ideas for places to see, eat, shop and pamper themselves. The itinerary also links back to gophila.com, where travelers can book a hotel stay in Philadelphia in order to make Leap day into a Leap Year weekend.
uwishunu®, created by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) and funded by the City of Philadelphia, reveals the unconventional side of Philadelphia by providing an insider’s look at the city’s dining, drinking, nightlife, active pursuits and culture as shared by Philly-wise locals.
