Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) Wins Four International Awards

Public Relations And Web Marketing Campaigns Chosen From Nearly 1,300 Entries

Philadelphia made a splash at the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) annual Adrian Awards ceremony by bringing Benjamin Franklin (Ralph Archbold) and Betsy Ross (Linda Wilde) to accept one of four honors awarded to the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC). The Philadelphia tourism office received a platinum award from the leading organization in the tourism, travel and hospitality industry for orchestrating the real-life wedding of the historic re-enactors on July 4, 2008. Out of 1,277 submissions, HSMAI awarded platinum awards to only 18 entrants.

Hospitality, travel, tourism and media professionals judged each GPTMC entry as one of the best in the category based on its own merit and success in achieving its objectives.

GPTMC won the following Adrian Awards for public relations:

  • Platinum Adrian Award: Best special event for “The Real-Life Wedding of Benjamin Franklin & Betsy Ross”
  • Silver Adrian Award: Best print feature placement in a consumer newspaper for “The City of Brotherly Love also loves the arts” story that appeared in The Record (Bergen County)
  • Bronze Adrian Award: Best consumer marketing program for “Philly Beer Week 2008: Pouring on the PR”

And one for Web marketing:

  • Bronze Adrian Award: Best consumer integrated marketing campaign for Philly’s More Holiday Fun 2007.
