Battle of Germantown

Battle of Germantown

The 1777 Battle of Germantown, depicted here by Colonial re-enactors, marked an important moment in the American Revolution for the American side. Although the British technically won the battle, the Colonists’ strong effort in Philadelphia led France to recognize the American side.
